Tonight! Don’t miss The Tempest at Viharamahadevi Park
View(s):“When shall we three meet again in thunder, lightning, or in rain? When the hurlyburly’s done, When the battle ‘s lost and won” cackle a coven of witches ominously. With this the Workshop Players’ production of Macbeth was held on March 24 and 25 at the Ape Gama open air Theatre in Battaramulla. Under the title “Shakespeare in the Village 2017”, the production directed by Rehan Almeida and Thushara Hettihamu was open to the public at no charge.
Starring Rehan Amaratunga as the lead, Macbeth, Sulochana Perera as Lady Macbeth, Kevin Cruz as Banquo, and Feroze Ahamed as Macduff, the play had both experienced Thespians as well as several first timers.
Tonight will see a change of scene as The Workshop Players present “Shakespeare in the Park 2017: The Tempest” at Colombo’s Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre at 7 p.m.. Directed by Nishantha de Silva and Ishtartha Wellabode, this production too is open to the public, free of charge.
