From April 7 to 16, the domestic carrier will be operating a daily scheduled fight between Colombo and Nuwara Eliya, departing Colombo City (Waters Edge) water aerodrome at 10:30 am and departing Nuwara Eliya (Lake Gregory) at 11:30 am every day. “While these flights drastically shorten travel time, passengers are also able to enjoy detailed bird’s-eye views of Sri Lanka since Cinnamon Air aircraft operate at altitudes below 10,000ft. Not only from the splendid aerial views of diverse terrain of the island, the excitement of flying to Nuwara Eliya comes from beginning and ending stages of the flights as well—passengers are able to experience take-off and landing on water,” the company said in a media release. Company officials said a return ticket to Nuwara Eliya inclusive of taxes costs Rs. 35,000.
Since commencing scheduled services over 3 years ago, Cinnamon Air has shaped its network to suit market needs. Currently, Cinnamon Air offers daily scheduled flights from Colombo to various locations in the South Coast, the Central Hill Country, East Coast, and the Cultural Triangle, making access to these destinations quick and comfortable. The seasonal scheduled flights to Nuwara Eliya allow travellers, both local and international, to access this popular destination during its “season” with a premium experience without the arduous road journey, effectively providing an additional day’s stay in the hill station, the release said.
