“Most RPCs in the dumps, study shows”
The Planters’ Association of Ceylon has drawn reference to the Business Times report last week under the above headline, and points out certain inaccurate comments. The letter is as follows:
“The Planters’ Association of Ceylon wishes at the outset to register its serious concern at the severe breach of confidentiality that has been committed by divulging incomplete and contradictory interpretations of the ongoing assessment of RPCs.
The assessment will only be completed once the reports of Visiting Agents (VA) have been corroborated and tallied against complete audits of all RPCs being carried out by Sri Lanka’s leading audit firms – KPMG, Ernst and Young, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, with all costs of assessments being borne by the RPCs themselves.
Moreover, the PA questions the veracity of the statements made to the Sunday Times in breach of the confidentiality of current proceedings, given that preliminary findings from the said assessments found that approximately 90 per cent of Sri Lankan RPCs have secured above favourable rankings, standing in total contradiction with the statements given to the Sunday Times.”
