The Cabinet Committee on Economic Management (CCEM) has directed the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Development to seek the  Attorney General’s advice on the legality of the claim for compensation made by the promoter of Hilton Hotel Cornel Perera and as to how this matter should be proceeded by the authorities.

Mr. Perera has been demanding US$ 25 million compensation for all the expenses he has made for the project, all the losses he has incurred and all his efforts made by him as the promoter of the hotel.

But it was reported to the CCEM that he had spent only Rs. 27 million for the project and there was no evidence of any major expenditure by him. Therefore the CCEM has decided to seek the AG’S advice on this matter.
