A memorable wildlife safari
We got up at 4 a.m., for our trip to Yala National Park. With the tour guide, we entered the park after 6 a.m. At the park entrance the Park Ranger joined us in our jeep. He shared many stories about the animals we came across the drive.
Our driver took us across the park to rush us to our first leopard sighting. We were rewarded with the sighting of a leopard who stopped in his tracks, turned and stared right at us before rushing off into the bushes.
After all the excitement, our driver drove us to a shaded picnic area to enjoy a simple breakfast for us of cheese sandwiches, yoghurt and a variety of fruits. Chilled bottled water, fruit juices and Milo packets were thoughtfully provided too. It was nice to stretch out by the river and to enjoy our refreshments. It was the most memorable and best trip.

My favourite storybook
My favourite storybook is ‘Black Beauty’. It is a
very interesting book.
It is written by Anna Sewell. This storybook talks about a black colour horse.
We can learn many good things from this story. There are twelve chapters in this book. It is printed by Ladybird Classics and is retold by Betty Evans and Kasia Matyjaszek. I like this storybook very much.

Proud Mother Visakha
I am a mother of 100 years old and have millions of proud daughters. They are very talented and kind-hearted ladies, mothers,’ wives and professionals.
I am Visakha Vidyalaya, started on January 16, 1917 by Mrs. Jeremiah Dias. From the beginning and to date, every year Visakha Vidyalaya has been developed to be the best Buddhist Girls’ School in Sri Lanka.
To celebrate my centenary birthday they have arranged a dana for 100 bhikkunis’, an educational exhibition, issuing a gold coin and a stamp together with a carnival.
(I am Hiruki, thanking my mother and grandmother for making me a daughter of
proud Mother Visakha and I am waiting to see my sisters in my school soon…)

The place I visited during my holidays
The climate now is very hot, so my family and I decided to go to a place where it’s cold. As we have been to Nuwara Eliya many times, we thought of going to Ratnapura. We were all sure that it won’t be as cold as Nuwara Eliya, but we thought it would be boring to go to the same place again and again.
So one sunny day at about 6 a.m., we left home. We hired a bus and then our family, my cousins and some of my close relatives packed our food and took our bags and climbed in the bus and left.
It was so much fun in the bus. We were playing games, cards and even Hide and Seek. While we were playing Hide and Seek as we were hiding under the seats we got scolded. So then we had to sit and look at the environment.
We are so lucky to live in Sri Lanka as it has many beautiful natural resources. We passed many mountains and rivers. We even passed waterfalls.
We the children were so troublesome. We were troubling our parents to go and have a bath at the awesome and cool waterfalls. Our parents were forced to stop. So we all had fun there as well. But after having a bath, unfortunately we were so sleepy so all our elders were free from trouble.
At last we reached our stop and took our luggage out and then it was time for lunch. We were so hungry so we took out our lunch parcels and had our yummy lunch. We stayed there for four days and for each day we went to different and lovely, fantastic places.
We had so much of fun during this holiday. This was the most awesome trip ever.

My ambition
Different people have different ambitions. Some people want to be doctors, engineers and scientists while some hope to become architects and teachers.
As for me, I wish to be a lawyer. I think being a lawyer is a challenging job. Imagine going to court and fighting for justice. I will stand for right and try to win the case. I want to be a famous lawyer. Not only do I want to be a lawyer, I will try to help the poor, disabled and aged people.
If I want to make my wish come true I must work extremely hard. I will go overseas, get a degree and come back to do my duty as a lawyer.
