Acting workshop for theatre lovers
This April and May, Biman Kasun Wimalaratne is offering theatre enthusiasts and curious learners a chance to further their craft. Together with Swasha Malalasekera at The Studio – Fine & Performing Arts Academy, Biman will be conducting acting workshops for both children and adults who are interested in “improving on stage, TV or film and simply to communicate clearly, confidently, and creatively, in daily interactions,” he explains.
A trained professional actor, Biman received his education from the Actors Centre Australia, (the Centre’s patron is actor Hugh Jackman) he completed their full-time programme of two and a half years. Upon the suggestion of his teacher at the Actors Centre and the young actor’s zest for teaching, the past month has found Biman conducting workshops for children between the ages 6-16, with plans to start weekly workshops for adults from May onwards. “Acting helps both communication skills and public performances,” adds Biman who will work on all aspects of performance from physical theatre to vocal training, etc.
The current workshops are structured progressively from developing individual skills, to a group. Together with Swasha, Biman hopes in December to direct a play together with the Studio. Free introductory workshops for those interested – kids or adults, will be held on April 29. Please contact Biman on bimankw@gmail.com for more information. Limited spots are available.
