Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena at the helm of Matara DCA
The administration of the Matara District Cricket Association changed as predicted at it’s AGM held at the Sri Lanka Cricket Headquarters on the 8th of April with Minister of State for Finance Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena being elected as President and former SLC’s district coach Prasanna Galappaththi elected as Secretary.
Former Municipal Councillor Nalin Ranasinghe was appointed as Treasurer.
Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena was elected uncontested as President in place of Dr Sanjaya Sedara Senarath who wished to step down after holding the post for two terms. Prasanna Galapaththi former SLC’s district coach in Matara and Galle was elected to the post of Secretary with a majority of 14 votes of the 22 votes cast. He replaces Sunil Mohotti who held the post of Secretary for over two decades and is a member of SLC’s Executive Committee at present.
Sunil Mohotti did not contest for the post this year.
