The ‘Singer Trophy’ Under-17 Division I Inter Schools’ cricket tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA) is scheduled to get underway from last week of May.
The tournament which is conducted in the limited overs format will see the participation of 75 teams which are divided into ten groups. Two teams St Sebastian’s Katuneriya and S de S. Jayasinghe MMV Dehiwela have been promoted to the top division while Zahira Colombo and Anuradhapura Central have been demoted to the lower division.
St. Sebastian’s Moratuwa were crowned champions last year and they have been included in Group E while Thurstan who were the runner’s up in Group B.
The first round matches (75 teams) will be played on a league basis in 10 groups and the completion will see 32 teams qualify to the second round.
The second round too will be played on a league basis in eight groups and with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the pre-quarter final round.
Registration will start from the May 2 and will be concluded on May 17.

Group ‘A’: Asoka MV Colombo, S. Thomas’, De Mazenod, Royal Panadura, Moratu MV, Mahanama Colombo, Royal Colombo, S. de S. Jayasinghe MMV Dehiwela.
Group ‘B’: Dharmapala Pannipitiya, Prince of Wales College, St. Anthony’s Wattala, DSS Colombo, Wadduwa Central, St. John’s Panadura, Thurstan, Maris Stella.
Group ‘C’: Tissa MMV Kalutara, Isipathana, Sri Dharmaloka MV Kelaniya, Sri Jayawardhanapura MV Kotte, St. John’s Nugegoda, Mahanama Panadura, Ananda Sastralaya Kotte, Sri Sumangala Panadura.
Group ‘D’: Nalanda, St. Peter’s, De La Salle Mutwal, Carey, St. Joseph’s, Lumbini MV, Wesley, Bandaranayake MMV Gampaha.
Group ‘E’: Piliyandala Central, St. Sebastian’s Moratuwa, President’s College Kotte, Gurukula MV Kelaniya, Holy Cross College Kalutara, St. Benedict’s, Ananda.
Group ‘F’: St. Peter’s Negombo, St. Sebastian’s Katuneriya, St. Joseph Vaz Wennappuwa, St. Xavier’s Marawila, St. Mary’s Chilaw, St. John’s Jaffna, Wickrmasheela National School Giriulla.
Group ‘G’: Kingswood, Sandalanka Central, Trinity College, St. Mary’s Kegalle, Ibbagamuwa Central, St. Anne’s Kurunegala and Maliyadeva
Group ‘H’: Vidyartha, St. Sylvester’s, St. Anthony’s Kandy, St. Thomas Matale, Kegalu Vidyalaya, Dharmaraja, Sri Rahula Katugastota, Sri Sumangala Kandy.
Group ‘J’: Sri Devananda MV Ambalangoda, Revatha MMV Balapitiya, Kalutara Vidyalaya, St. Thomas Matara, Rahula Matara, Mahinda Galle, Debarawewa National School.
Group ‘K’: Vidyaloka Galle, St. Servatius Matara, St. Aloysius Galle, Dharmasoka MV Ambalangoda, Richmond Galle, P.de S. Kularatne MV Ambalangoda, Devapathiraja MMV Rathgama.
