Nepalese President Bhandari here to conclude UN Vesak Day celebrations
View(s):Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari arrived in the country yesterday to participate in the closing ceremony of the 14th UN International Vesak Day conference which will be held in Kandy this evening.
She was received on arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) by Minister of Buddha Sasana and Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe.
Ms. Bhandari will address the closing ceremony of the UN Vesak Day celebration this evening. As part of the celebrations in Kandy, a special exposition of the Tooth Relic will also be held today. The UN Vesak celebrations will close with the presentation of the ‘Mahanuwara Declaration’ by Minister Rajapakshe.
Ms. Bhandari will meet President Maithripala Sirisena and former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga during her stay here.
