Sri Lanka go down to Chinese Taipei in opening match

Sri Lanka suffered a defeat of 0-3 to Chinese Taipei at the Second Asian Women’s Under-23 Volleyball Championships currently in progress in Bangkok, Thailand. The tournament will continue until May 23. The tournament is being conducted by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), Thirteen teams are taking part in the competition. Sri Lanka has been classified into Group ‘C’. The teams in this group are: Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei and Australia.
Sri Lanka suffered a 25-15, 25-14 and 25-10 defeat at the hands of Chinese Taipei. Today Sri Lanka will face Kazakhstan. Tomorrow Sri Lanka is scheduled to clash with Australia. If Sri Lanka wins these two matches they will proceed to the Super Eight Round. If they fail they will have to return.     - SP
