75th Convocation of Peradeniya University
View(s):The new Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya (UoP), Prof K.M. de Silva, presided over its 75th Convocation for 3,404 Graduates. Prof K.M. de Silva graduated from the UoP, and later, was its Professor of History.
The Faculty of Arts with 930 Graduates had the largest number Conferred, while the lowest was from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine & Animal Health with 76. The Faculty of Management- 78, Faculty of Medicine- 207, Postgraduate Institute of Science- 215, Faculty of Agriculture- 200, Faculty of Engineering- 479 and Faculty of Science 409, were some of the others Conferred.
The Masters and Doctorates were conferred by the Chancellor Professor K.M.de.Silva, while the other Degrees were conferred by Vice Chancellor Prof Upul B. Dissnayake.
The proceedings began with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Registrar U.D. Dodanwela and Committee Chairman, Prof Vajira Weerasinghe.
This was followed by the “Jaya Mangals Gatha’s” and the declaration of the Conferment of Degrees by the Chancellor.
