‘The Mummy’, return of an ancient princess who is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension, is now being screened at leading theatres in Colombo and outstation.

Directed by Alex Kurtzman and written by David Koepp, Christopher McQuarrie, and Dylan Kussman, the Hollywood action-adventure horror movie stars Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance, Marwan Kenzari, and Russell Crowe.

Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in the current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, ‘The Mummy’ brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

Premiered at the State Theatre in Sydney, on May 22, the film had its worldwide release on June 9 in the United States. (SRF)
