FTZ Sports Assoc. elects Office-bearers

The Free Trade Zone Sports Association (FTZSA) with a history of over three decades, was inaugurated as a voluntary body mandated to provide sports and recreational activities for employees of the Katunayake Export Processing Zone (KEPF). FTZSA was the brainchild of late Shabbir A.I. Jafferjee, then Managing Director of A.J. Milton Lanka Ltd. and A.J. Fishing Industries Pvt. Ltd.
Softball Cricket for men and women, Leather ball Cricket for men, Volleyball for men and women, 11 and 7-a-side Football, Elle for men and women, Inter-enterprise Athletic meet, Sinhala and Hindu New Year Festival and the Annual Get-together were the events that the FTZSA conducts annually for the recreation of its members.
The well equipped FTZ Sports Complex, administered and maintained by the FTZSA, consists of a 400-metre ground, a Netball court, Volleyball courts in the lower terrace and a 80-metre (from stumps to the boundary) Cricket ground, with 7 well maintained turf wickets, a scoreboard displaying all details, 2 sight-screens, a pavilion with modern facilities and netted outdoor practice wickets are primarily meant for the promotion of Cricket in the country at school and national level.
At the 36th Annual General Meeting held on June 7, at the Onreech Hotel, Seeduwa, the following office-bearers were elected:Â Â
