St. Joseph’s College Colombo claimed two titles at the All-Island Inter-School Badminton Championships 2016/2017 held at the Municipal Indoor Stadium in Nuwara Eliya and at the Royal College Sports Complex. At the competition held in Nuwara Eliya, the Josephian shuttlers won the Boy’s Division ‘B’ Under-18 Doubles championship while their Under-19 team emerged winners at the tournament played at the Royal Complex in Colombo.
In the competition that their Under-18 Boy’s team won the title, St. Joseph’s beat Bandaranayake College Gampaha convincingly to qualify for the Division ‘A’ segment this season. The Under-19 team beat Maliyadeva College Kurunegala. - Text and pix NA
