MoE, Dialog sign MoU to expand Nenasa TV
View(s):A new MoU to expand Nenasa TV, the Educational TV Telecast implemented by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and Dialog Axiata PLC, targeting schoolchildren, was signed last week.
The MoU was signed between MoE Secretary Sunil Hettiarachchi and Dialog Axiata CEO Supun Weerasinghe. Accordingly, Nenasa TV will be expanded as a full time Education channel, while a new Tamil medium channel will also be launched for Grade 10 and 11, along with two channels for Grades 12 and 13 for the GCE A/L exam.
It currently telecasts 30-minute long educational programmes in Science, Maths, Sinhala Language and Literature, English, Geography, History, ICT, Entrepreneurship Studies, Business Studies and Accounting for Grade 10 and 11, for the GCE O/L exam, and programmes on current affairs.
Nenasa TV is telecast through Dialog channels 25 and 26, as its Corporate Social Responsibility.
It was commenced as a pilot project in 2005, connecting only 5 schools, and has now expanded its connections to about 2,250 schools. (AV)
