Ed Sheeran grants wish to terminally ill Australian fan
View(s):Ed Sheeran has granted a second wish to a terminally ill Australian fan. Sophia Gall a teenage fan from the State of Victoria had posted a social media message hoping to meet with Sheeran.
Gall had met Sheeran one and half years ago in Australia.
She is currently on a tour of Europe as her health continues to deteriorate and Sheeran obliged by meeting Gall and had a photograph taken together.
A song released as a result a tragedy has come out on top of the UK singles chart.
Artists For Grenfell comprising over 53 musicians mostly from the UK came together on an initiative of music mogul and talent scout Simon Cowell to record a cover version of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic hit ‘Bridge Over Troubled Waters’ last week.
Just 48 hours after the track was released on 21st June, it debuted straight at the top of the chart.
Simon Cowell 53 was moved when he saw the flames of Grenfell Tower block in London’s Kensington area and the song ‘Bridge Over Troubled Waters’ came to his mind according to reports at the time.
Among the artists on the song are Anne- Marie, Brian May of Queen, Craig David, Dua Lipa, Ella Eyre, Ella Henderson, Emeli Sande, Fleur East, Gareth Malone & Choir, Geri Halliwell, Gregory Porter, James Arthur, James Blunt, Jessie J, John Newman, Reverend & the Makers, Labrinth, Leona Lewis, Liam Payne, London Community Gospel Choir, Louis Tomlinson, Matt Goss, Louisa Johnson,Nathan Sykes, Nile Rodgers, Omar, Paloma Faith, Pixie Lott, Rita Ora, Robbie Williams, Stormzy, The Who, Tokio Myers, Tulisa, and 5 After Midnight.
To get to the No: 1 spot the charity sing sold over 170,360 combined on all formats and has become the second fastest selling song in the UK this year after Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’.
Meanwhile DJ Khaled’s second UK release ‘Wild Thoughts’ featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller debuted on the chart at No: 3. The song samples the guitar riff from Santana’s 1999 ‘Maria Maria’.
The song is a follow up the Khaled’s former No: 1 ‘I’m The One’ which coincidently at No: 9 on the chart.
The four member girl group Little Mix scored their 11th UK top hit with ‘Power’, the fourth release from the album ‘Glory Days’.
The song about women’s empowerment was released on 26th May with the addition of grime artist Stormzy. The song has been on the chart for four weeks, crossing over to the top from No: 13.
Rita Ora has confirmed on social media her new album will be out in November.
It will be a follow up to her debut album ‘Ora’ from 2012, which spawned two No: 1 songs ‘How We Do (Party)’ and ‘R.I.P’.
In May she released a song titled ‘Your Song ‘which peaked at 11 on the UK singles chart.
US rap star Chance The Rapper has won the BET Humanitarian Award held on 25th June in Los Angles.Chance whose real name is Chancelor Bennett was cited for his work in the local and national communities.
He has donated $1million to the Chicago Public School and helped in the civic awareness programs for the homeless.
