Wesley and Lee safely at the helm
As the tenth week of the Singer-the Sunday Times Most Popular Schoolboy Ruggerite of the Year and Most Popular Rugby Team of Year 2017 competitions are still being led by Wesley College and its very own Avishka Lee.
Lee, the dashing three-quarter player from the Campbell Park School, leads all the way for yet another week with a tally of 2888 after adding 160 votes from last week. He is trailed by Sasindu Rathnaweera of Ananda College, who is way behind by 1905 votes. Sasindu claimed 85 votes last week, which took his tally to 983. Isipathana College skipper Sumudu Rankothge and Royal College skipper Ovin Askey remains at third and fourth respectively. Their additions are not much when compared to others in the top five, but are sufficient enough to safeguard their positions.
However Aabid Cader of S. Thomas’ College has overtaken the initial leader Yuzraan Lantra of Zahira College to claim the fifth position after adding 127 votes, taking his tally to 300. Lantra is pushed down to sixth.
In the team competition Lee’s side, Wesley continues to lead with 2885 votes while Ananda and Isipathana remains at second and third respectively for yet another week. Royal and S. Thomas’ remain at fourth and fifth positions respectively.
The competitions, which enables readers to vote for their most preferred school Rugby player of the ongoing Singer Schools Division I Rugby League Championship 2017, will run until July 30.
