Mahamaya Kandy and St. Joseph’s Colombo overall champs
Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy with 518 points and St. Joseph’s College, Colombo with 560 points emerged overall winners in the Girls and Boys segments at the 44th Milo All Island Age Group Aquatic Championships 2017, concluded at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex last weekend. 31 new records were established at the meet.
Akalanka Peiris of St. Peter’s College, Colombo and Vinoli Kaluarachchi of Sirimavo Bandaranailkje Balika Vidyalaya were adjudged Best Swimmers in the Boys and Girls sections respectively for their excellent performances at the championship.
Mahamaya BV was closely followed by Viskha Vidyalaya, Colombo (507.5) with Sirimavo BV (343), Lyceum Intl’ School, Wattala (331) and Musaeus College, Colombo (231) points occupied 3rd, 4th and 5th places respectively.
In the Boys section St. Joseph’s College, Colombo (560) points made a plain sail to the championship was far ahead of 1st runner-up Royal College (381) followed by Ananda College, Colombo (349), Lyceum Intl’ Wattala (210) and St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa (199) points.
Lyceum Intl’ School, Wattala with 541 points led in the Combined section. Lyceum Intl’ Nugegoda (266.5), Gateway College, Colombo (158), Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda (103) and Regent Intl’ School (70) points occupied spots from the 2nd to the 5th .
Royal College, Colombo clinched the Boys Diving Championship with 193 points was followed by Sri Jayewardenepura Boys School (45) and S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia (39) points. Girls Diving Championship was won by Bishop’s College, Colombo (150) with St. Bridgets Convent, Colombo (70) and Sirimavo Bandaranaike BV (34) finished as 1st and 2nd runners-up.
