In a vehicle collision in Nuwara Eliya, an eight-year-old travelling in the front seat had died after he crashed into the windscreen of the car, police said. The car had been travelling on the Nuwara Eliya-Kandy Road, when a van travelling in the opposite direction had collided.
The victim, Dilantha Denuwan Liyanage was seated on the lap of an adult and only the adult had a seat belt on. The driver of the other vehicle, Punchihewage Madhushika from Yanthampalawa, Kurunegala was released on Police bail after she had requested for permission to consult a doctor for her injuries.
