‘Esala Tharupaana’ to promote quality Lankan music
View(s):‘Esala Tharupaana’, an evening of music with renditions by Dr. Victor Ratnayake, Visharadha Amarasiri Peiris and Visharadha Nirosha Virajini will be performed at 6.30 pm on July 22 at Nelum Pokuna Theatre in Colombo.
Music is provided by the SLBC Orchestra under the leadership of director Sidath Somasundara, the concert is organised to promote good music and the viewers will have an opportunity to take part in short discussions with lyricists who penned the songs that are to be performed in the evening. The MC of the show will be Kelum Srimal.
Organised by Colombo Magistrate Courts Lawyers Association, ‘Esala Tharupaana’ show also marks the 44th anniversary of Dr. Victor Ratnayake’s ever popular ‘Sa’ concert, which originally started on July 20, 1973. The show which ran for 39 years ended in July 20, 2012 and ‘Esala Tharupaana’ marks the fifth year since the end of the show.
