KDU presents workshop on ‘Advancements in Naval Vessel Design’
View(s):The General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) will be conducting a workshop on “Advancements in Naval Vessel Design” on August 1 and 2 organised by the Faculty of Engineering as a precursor to its Annual Research Symposium the 10th International Research Conference (IRC) next month.
This workshop will enable participants to acquaint themselves with the latest thinking and innovations in naval vessel designs, a media release issued by the university stated.
The workshop will be facilitated by three eminent resource persons: Prof. Martin Renilson and Prof. Dev Ranmuthugala from Australia and Prof. Margareta Lutzhoft from Norway. Prof. Renilson is the President of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (Australian Division) and has over 35 years of experience in the field of Ship Hydrodynamics, Prof. Ranmuthugala is a professor of Maritime Engineering at the Australian Maritime College, University of Tasmania while Prof. Lutzhoft is a Professor of Nautical Operations at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.
Participants of this workshop will gain an understanding of hydrodynamic research to support naval forces and human factors in designing naval vessels. They will also be educated on the requirements of science and technology for the naval forces and how best to provide science and technology.
