Mohamed Shaheen double hat-trick helps Amja Travels
Mohamed Shaheen banged in 6 stinging goals, as Amja Travels trounced Cinnamon Grand Colombo ‘B’ 8-2, in the inaugural Travel Trade Sports Club (TTSC) 5-a-side Futsal Football Championship ‘Cup’ Finalheld at the Futsal World Indoor Court, TB Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10, last Sunday. The tournament was sponsored by Viluxur Holidays.
The ‘Cup’ and ‘Plate’ championships had 12 teams competing in 4 groups. Viluxur Holidays had spectators all agog, when they fielded a girl, Delrine Von Hagt, in their 2nd match against Galadari Hotel. They won their match against Walkers Tours ‘B’, 2-0 with Aadithyan Thirumoorthy excelling.
The ‘Plate’ semifinal between Walkers Tours ‘B’ and Cinnamon Grand Colombo ‘A’ proved an absolute thriller; the hoteliers won the game on penalties. Rewin Kumar was outstanding for the winners, while skipper Jason Pereira and Dinesh Kumar excelled for Walkers Tours ‘A’.
The Tournament was marshaled by Vice President- Mercantile Football Association, Piyal Perera.
Awards were presented by Director- Cammy Gunasekera and Manager Sales & Marketing- Ms Roshelle Daniel, of Viluxur Holidays, along with TTSC Vice President- Suranjith de Fonseka, TTSC Gen.Sec.- Anushka Perera and TTSC ExCo Member Mani Sugathapala.

The 4 Group runners-up, Kingsbury, Cinnamon Grand ‘A’, Walkers Tours ‘A’ and Viluxur Holidays advanced to the ‘Plate’ Championship.

Cinnamon Grand ‘B’ beat Luxe Asia 4-1, Amja Travels beat Galadari Hotel 9-1.
‘Cup’ Final:
Amja Travels beat Cinnamon Grand ‘B’ 8-2. [Mohamed Shaheen (6), Mohamed Fazly (1) and Mohamed Rashan (1) scored for Amja. Kanistan Sagadevan and Anushka Priyadarshana scored for Cinnamon Grand ‘B’
‘Plate’ Semifinals:
Walkers Tours ‘A’ beat Kingsbury 4-2; Cinnamon Grand ‘A’ beat Viluxur Holidays 6-1.
‘Plate’ Final:
Cinnamon Grand ‘A’ beat Walkers Tours ‘A’ on penalties 3-2 (Scores were 1-1 at full time).
