Lyceum Wattala win championship for eighth time
View(s):Lyceum International School Wattala beat Lyceum International School Nugegoda by 74 runs to retain the R.I.T. Alles Memorial Trophy at the Inter-International Schools Under-19 Cricket Tournament which concluded at the Shalika ground in Narahenpita.
By virtue Lyceum Wattala claimed the championship title for the eighth occasion as two of their players went on to claim individual awards. Lyceum Wattala also went on to claim the championship, which began on July 5, with an unblemished record this season.
Batting first Lyceum Wattala posted 265 runs in 40 overs and bowled out their opponents for 191 runs with 39 balls to spare. Hasitha Gunasiri, who top scored for the winners with a knock of 53, was the player of the final. Imantha Fernando, who claimed two scalps in the final, was named the Best Bowler of the Tournament. – NA
