Chamika Kumara emerges overall champion
Chamika Kumara of Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) put up a fine performance to clinch the Overall Championship at the SLT Speedup Cycling Tour which concluded in Embilipitiya yesterday.
Kumara, despite finishing the fifth and final stage of the race from Bandarawela to Embilipitiya in eighth place managed to secure the overall title with a time of 18 hours, 23 minutes and 20 seconds.
Sanju Deemantha of Sri Lanka Air Force who secured the fifth place in the final stage of the race emerged as the overall runner-up with the identical timing.
Ramesh Viran of Sri Lanka Ports Authority who took the 14th place in the final stage was placed third in the overall championship with a timing of 18 hours, 24 minutes and 49 seconds.
Meanwhile, Avishka Madonza of Sri Lanka Navy had the satisfaction of winning the final stage of the race while returning a time of three hours, 18 minutes and 17 seconds.
Sudharika Priyadarshani of Sri Lanka Air Force won the Women’s race which was held from Ratnapura to Embilipitiya covering a distance of 72km.
She returned a time of two hours, 18 minutes and 29 seconds with second place Dinesha Dilrukshi and third place Sulochana Panchali both from Air Force returning the identical time.
