New appointment at Ogilvy Sri Lanka
View(s):Phoenix Ogilvy, Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide’s flagship advertising agency in Sri Lanka this week announced the appointment of Rajiv R. Menon as Chief Executive Creative Officer.
This is Mr. Menon’s second stint with Ogilvy, the first being in account management at Ogilvy Mumbai in the early 90s, according to a media release issued in Colombo.
He has 27 years of awarded brand work in 3600 communications that encompasses advertising, design, activations, direct marketing, events, digital and rich media. Commenting on Mr. Menon’s appointment, Irvin Weerackody, Chairman of the Ogilvy Group of companies in Sri Lanka said, “Rajiv is an industry leader in creative strategy and disruptive ideation. Having seen his impressive body of work, I am sure he will lead Phoenix Ogilvy in creating ground-breaking, omni-channel ideas and experiences for our clients”.
Meanwhile Ajinkya Pawar, planning head of Phoenix Ogilvy Pvt (Ltd), Colombo, won the prestigious WPP Atticus Awards 2016. These awards honour original published thinking in marketing and communications services.
Mr. Pawar won in the Advertising category for his paper titled, ‘The Advertising Agencies of the future will be Open Sourced’. He proposes that the global advertising companies need to radically relook at their business model to grow. He points out at the long-tail of SMEs and personal brands, that are as yet untapped by the industry. Among the 10 winners, he is the only one from South Asia.
