St. Joseph’s carries forward the winning trend in swimming

St. Joseph’s College, Colombo with 34 points continued to carry forward their winning trend in swimming when they clinched the Overall Championship in the Boys segment at the Pentathlon Swimming Championship 2017 concluded at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex last weekend.

Lyceum International School, Wattala emerged Overall Champions in the Girls segment with a total of 32 points proving their prowess in girls swimming. Boys champions Joes collected their points through Under 11 (8 points), Under-13 and 15 (1 point each), Under-18 (11 points) and Over-18 (13 points) while Lyceum Wattala lasses totalled their winning points through Under-11 (10 points), Under-13 (7 points) and Under-15 (15 points).

Vinoli Kaluarachchi of Sirimavo Bandaranaike BV continued her dominance in the water to win the Under-18 Girls Pentathlon championship with a total timing of 7:39.40 mts. She timed 1:11.48mts in the 100M Butterflystroke, 1:10.91mts in the Backstroke, 1:34.60mts in the Breaststroke, 1:02.78mts in the Freestyle and 2:39.63mts in the 200IM event.

Gavin Karunanayake from Brilliant Stars International College emerged champion in the Boys Under-18 Pentathlon with a total timing of 6:44.39mts. Karunanayake timed in the 100M Butterfly with 1:00.38mts, Backstroke with 1:07.24mts, 1:16.62mts in the Breaststroke, 58.06secs in the Freestroke and 2:22.09mts in the 200IM event.
