Calvin Harris has made his way to the top of the UK singles chart with ‘Feels’ a 70/80’s disco/ska track. ‘Feels’ ended the long reign of the No: 1 song by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber’s ‘Despacito’. Harris does not sing on ‘Feels’ instead he has Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry doing the needful with Big Sean supplementing it a brief rap segment. ‘Feel’s is the sixth UK No: 1 song for 33 year old Scottish DJ, producer and singer Harris and eight overall when you consider his appearance as guest artist. The current hit single came out on June 16 and had a long journey to the summit of the chart.

It began a chart journey at No: 21 and stalled at No: 4 for three weeks as ‘Despacito’ dominated the chart. This week ‘Feels’ moved two notches to claim the UK singles crown. ‘Feel’s is co- written by Harris with Adam Wiles, Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, Brittany Hazzard and Sean Anderson (Big Sean). The song is taken from ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol 1’ the fifth album by Calvin Harris.

Rita Ora’s ‘Your Song’ took a four notch climb on the UK singles chart to No: 5 this week. The electropop track is co-written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac. Meanwhile she announced that her second album will be delayed for the second time. The ‘How We Do (Party)’ and RIP hitmaker said the new album is likely to be released in 2018. Ora 26 had earlier fixed 26th November for the release date. She has confirmed Chris Martin, Julia Roberts and songwriter Justin Tranter have so far worked on her forthcoming album. It appears the Kosova born singer had to work out some arrangement and legal issues with her ex-boy friend Calvin Harris and her former management company Roc Nation. Her debut album ‘Ora’ was released in 2012.

Enrique Iglesias has returned to the UK singles after three years with ‘Subeme La Radio’ which means turn up the radio thanks to Sean Paul and UK artist Matt Terry who won X-Factor last December. The song climbed two notches to No:12 to give Iglesias his 11 top 10 UK hit. The original version Spanish version has Puerto Rican artists Zion & Lennox and Cuban singer Descemer Bueno. But their vocals have been replaced by Jamaican artist Sean Paul and UK artist Matt Terry who add the English vocals to the song to make it a reggaeton Spanglish track. Paul and Terry in fact replace the vocals of Iglesias on the second verse of the song.

Bruno Mars performed in Auburn Hills, Michigan on August 13 as part of his 24K Magic sold out world tour and then interrupted his show to tell fans he was donating proceeds from the show which was $1 million towards the Flint water crisis fund. Lead poisoning has contaminated water in the town of Flint since 2014.

Meanwhile in another development Britney Spears has decided to donate $1 from each ticket sold at her Las Vegas shows at Planet Hollywood towards flood hit schools in her home state of Louisiana in the US.
