Sinhala Teachers in Muslim schools protest change in holidays

View(s):

Sinhala Teachers serving in Muslim schools have protested the move to change the commencement of schools holidays in such schools for the second term in September, accommodating a request by religious groups.

The scheduled holidays were to commence from August 18, when the Dept has changed it to commence from September 1. Sinhala Teachers maintain that this change has affected their personal commitments including having to attend to their children preparing for the GCE Advanced Level exam.

They insist this ad hoc system of changing school holidays needs to stop.
