Old Peterites make a clean sweep
Old Peterites were the proud winners of the Ranjith Samarasekera Memorial Challenge Trophy, offered for the first time, as Overall Winners of the Golden Jubilee Saints Quadrangular 2017, hosted by the Old Antonians, concluded at St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota (SACK), last Sunday.
The Old Petes won both cricket tournaments, the Under (U)-40 (50 overs) and the Over (O)-40 (25 overs); the Rev Fr Joe Wickramasinghe Challenge Trophy, winning the Basketball tournament, and the SACK OBU Challenge Trophy, winning the Rugby 7s.
The presenters at the post tournament awards were:Premalal de Silva- 1973 Antonian Cricket Captain who scored 149 in the Big Match against Trinity College in the same year. Chief Guest- Joe Savarimuttupulle, former Bens Cricket Captain. Guest of Honour- Rev Fr Henry Wijeratne OSB, Principal, Rev. Fr. Eugine Silva, Assistant Prior and Rev. Fr. Niranjan Wijeratne, POG.
