SOSL to take you on an adventurous musical journey
View(s):Everyone loves an epic… dark lords, evil witches, unlikely heroes, journeys fraught with danger, incredible battles … the stories that hold us spellbound and breathless, which never grow old, no matter how many times we read or watch them. Feel a sense of nostalgia for those tales of courage and the triumph of good over evil? Then join the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka on September 16 and 17 at the Bishop’s College auditorium, as they take you on a musical journey of some of the world’s most beloved adventures with SOSL Pops.
Of course The Lord of the Rings is on the programme—so too the music from The Chronicles of Narnia—more epic battles and soaring tunes—and the darkly brooding music of the movie‘Gladiator.’
The SOSL will also pay tribute to the genius of John Williams, in a medley of instantly recognizable themes from yet another string of epic stories: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Jaws.
In much lighter vein the evening will include performances by Bhatiya Jayakody, Shehara Liyanage, Dinushka Jayawickreme and Amandhi Caldera. In a tribute to Ol Blue Eyes, Bathiya will perform (amongst other things) a medley of Frank Sinatra’s best loved songs, while Shehara and Dinushka will collaborate on a trio of inspiring and immensely popular songs by Josh Groban. A selection of catchy tunes from the hit Broadway show ‘Chicago,’ is also on the cards, with Amandhi Caldera providing the sizzling vocals.
And there’s more… music from The Lion King (arguably one of the best scores produced for Disney), Mission Impossible, Game of Thrones, Beauty and the Beast … you’ll just have to come for the concert to hear it all.
