Sports Management Diplomas
The awards ceremony of Fifth Advanced Sports Management Diploma Course 2015-2016 awards took place at the Olympic House on Friday. This course comes under the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Solidarity Course. It was conducted by the Sri Lanka Olympic Committee.
This is the only course where South Asian and Central Asian countries are eligible to take part in. This Diploma Course commenced in Sri Lanka in 2007. So far 81 individuals have received these diploma courses.
This time 16 candidates took part in the course and 13 of them were recognised by the Olympic Solidarity for their dedicated and determined performance during the programme.
Doctors connected with sports, sports administrators, members of National Sports Associations and finance officials attached to top level companies too participated in the event.
The programme was conducted by Professor B.L.H. Perera who was the programme director. The following performed as facilitators of the course: Maxwell de Silva (NOC Secretary), Ms Lalitha Mendis, Lakshman Mendis and Ms. Kanthi Wasana Jayatissa.
Those who followed the course said that it was a very educative and advanced course and that they will be able to instruct the others in the country on what they were coached on.
At the awards ceremony Hemasiri Fernando, President, Sri Lanka National Olympic Committee, was the chief guest.

Pradeep Fernando, Wing Commander A.D.R. Liyanarachchi. Gr. Capt. Muditha Mahawattege, T.M.T.W. Nimalawansa Tennekoon, R.M.P. Rajakaruna, Shalomi N. Selvaraj Ranasinghe, Chaminda K. Udakumbura, W.M.Y.A. Wijesooriya and W.M.N.S. Wijetunga.
