13-Year continuous Education next month in 42 schools islandwide
View(s):The pilot project for the 13-year continuous Education programme to commence . Providing a 13-year continuous education for all students, disregarding their performances at the GCE O/L exam, will be implemented under the newly introduced vocational stream.
This allows students to follow any vocational subject of their choice, and to provide opportunities for tertiary/ higher education or, for employment, by providing flexible educational opportunities to students, and to introduce vocational subjects that have both local and international demand, and to develop skills needed to promote traditional industries, agriculture or business ventures.
It is also expected to build a skilled future generation and to reach the expected sustainable development goals by 2030, by contributing them to the economic and human development through the programme. In addition, the Govt also expects to include student participation in the future economic development of the country, by enhancing their technological, vocational and social skills, by making a suitable human resource for the future through the school system, by this programme.
