Devinda and Herath emerge Dambulla Leg champions
Aurapada Vidyalaya Mawanella’s L.R. Devinda and H.M.B.A Herath of Kuliyapitiya MMV emerged champions in the boys and girls categories of the second stage Mini Marathon which was held at Dambulla yesterday.
In the boys event G.D.C.D. Alwis of Sri Rahula MV Katugastota, K.D.S.K. Siriwardena of Heseth MV Nikaweratiya, R.A.L. Rukshan of Horombawa MV and W.A.M.S.P. Abeywansa of Dambulla National School took the second, third, fourth and fifth spots.
In the girls event Herath was followed by P.G. Dilani Wijeratne of Mahamaya BV Kandy, K.G.L. Nethmini of Nalanda MV, W.M.I.N. Weerasinghe of Dambadeniya MMV and M.P.M. Jayaratne of Halgamulla Mayurawathi MV.
Meanwhile in the two 5km event which was held concurrently saw A.G. Damith Jayanga of Nikawahera MV taking the first place in the boys category followed by K.H.G.E. de Silva of A. Ratnayake MMV Walala, G.R.D. Wijesuriya and E.K.D. Athugala both of Randiwela MV and J.H.A.N. Jayatilleke of Akuramboda National Schools.
In the girls category and girls event saw B.M.I.N.K. Basnayake, H.M.C.S. Herath, K.M.J.M. Kanagaratne, E.M.P.N. Ratnayake and R.G.S. Premaratne all of A. Ratnayake MMV Walala taking the top five spots.
The second stage of the Nestomalt Mini Marathon conducted by the Minister of Sports and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd at Dambulla saw the participation of over 2000 from the Central Province, Sabaragamuwa and Wayamba districts. The third stage of the Mini Marathon is scheduled to be held in Matara.
