National Trust lecture: “The study of landscape architecture is a science”
View(s):The 99th lecture in the series presented by the National Trust – Sri Lanka will be held at the HNB Auditorium, 22nd Floor, HNB Towers, 479 T.B. Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10 at 6.30p.m. on Thursday, September 28. “The study of landscape architecture is a science” will be the topic of the lecture to be delivered by Archt. Ashley De Vos.
Archt. de Vos is the Senior Vice President of The National Trust – Fellow of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (40 years) and member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (45 years to Jan 2016).
He will talk of how landscape architecture is much more than plants, but a science to do with the moulding of the environment. The science is more to do with assessing the whole environment and studying and finding solutions to mitigate effect of the changes that could be brought about through development. The EIA or the process of environmental impact assessment is to mitigate the effects that landscape manipulation could have on the environment.
