The cause
All funds from the show will go to provide urgently needed equipment for the National Hopital and the Apeksha Hospital Maharagama, the premier hospital in Sri Lanka dealing with cancer patients. Its pediatric unit caters for children with cancer referred from all over the country. The Pediatric intensive care unit consists of four beds with ventilator facilities – there are about 25 to 30 admissions per month to this unit.
These little children are admitted with conditions like pneumonia, circulatory collapse, severe infections, bleeding and fits. Some children need support from a ventilator for breathing and some need monitoring of their vital signs.
Ventilated children need more intense monitoring than others. A multipara monitor is very valuable equipment for this unit as it will monitor all these parameters and help the medical personnel to take immediate action to save the life of the child.
A mobile multipara monitor will be very useful equipment for the unit as they transfer patients from one unit to another inside the hospital or if transferring patients outside the hospital. Mobile monitor will assist the medical personnel to detect any deterioration while the patient is being transferred.
