Sri Sumangala MV Panadura and Devapathiraja MV, Rathgama bagged the All Island Schools Games (boys and girls) cricket championships organised by the Ministry of Education in Colombo yesterday.
In the boys final Sri Sumangala beat Nirmala Matha Sinhala MV Kalpitiya by 24 runs. In the girls final Devapathiraja beat Eppawala Siddhartha MV by 54 runs.
Sahan Hansaka of Sri Summangala was adjudged the best player in the boys final while the best player in the girls final was Sathya Sandeepani of Devapathiraja MV.
Twenty-eight sports have been included in the All Island School Games. To date 28 sports have been completed.
The cycling championships will commence today at 7 am opposite the Ape Gama, Sri Jayewardenepura. There are 130 boys for cycling and 56 girls.
