AIDEX sports festival today

The Colombo Friend-in-Need organised AIDEX 2017, the Annual Sports Festival for Jaipur Limb users will be held today at Prison Grounds, Colombo 8.
To commemorate the 186th Anniversary of the Colombo Friend-in-Need Society AIDEX will be held for the 28th year. The event is very much looked forward by both participants and organisers. Over 400 participants from various parts of the island will be in action at this year’s edition. The participants include members of the armed forces and civilians who have undergone amputation of limbs following conflict, traffic accidents, infections especially in diabetic patients and children with limb defects.
The event will be worked off from 8.00 a.m. with the male and female bicycle races followed by 63 Track and Field events including 100, 200 and 400 metre races. Putt Shot, Long Jump and Archery.
Ceylon Tea services Ltd. (Dilmah) will be providing T’ Shirts and caps for the participants and volunteers.
The other establishments who will lend a helping hand for success of the event will be Fonterra Brands Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., Ceylon Cold Stores, Coca Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd., Lanka Milk Foods (CWE) PLC., Ceylon Biscuits Ltd., Galadari Hotel, Stassen Exports (Pvt) Ltd., and Hilton Colombo along with volunteer groups including Girl Guides from Musaeus College, students from the Colombo Medical Faculty and the staff of M/s Tallman Tours.
