MAS Silueta aiming to remain unbeaten

MAS Silueta will look up to Denuwan Rajakaruna and Rumesh Silva to maintain their unbeaten status and win the title when they take on the ‘young guns’ from Power Tech Cement in the final of the first Fair & Lovely Men Trophy – MCA ‘B’ Division 50-Over League Tournament 2018, today, October 15 at the MCA Grounds, commencing 10.00 am.

Rajakaruna has so far accumulated 335 runs in seven innings inclusive of four not outs, averaging 111.6 with best being his 117 not out in 114 balls, with five sixes and a dozen fours Vs. John Keells ‘B’, worth mentioning his two half centuries-81 Vs. Power Tech Cement and 51 Vs. Unilever.

Silva has bagged 16 wickets for 132 runs in 50.3 overs with two five wicket hauls, 5 for 10 Vs. Singer and 5 for 18 Vs. Unilever. MAS Silueta’s impressive unbeaten path to the final: Beat Commercial Credit ‘B’ by six wickets, John Keells ‘B’ by 119 runs; Singer SL by 213 runs, Mobitel by five wkts, Unilever by 134 runs and Power Tech Cement by 25 runs on the DLS method. Beat Commercial Credit ‘B’ for the second time around, by six runs on DLS method, in the rain affected semi final.

Power Tech Cement’s path to the final: Defeated Unilever by three wickets and Mobitel by 57 runs, lost to John Keells ‘B’ by nine wickets on DLS, beat Commercial Credit ‘B’ by seven wickets, lost to MAS Silueta by 25 runs on DLS and received a walk-over from Singer Sri Lanka; they took sweet revenge over John Keells ‘B’, beating them by nine wickets in the semi finals.

Power Tech Cement is packed with versatile, just out of school, youngsters, such as Dineth Thimodaya, Lahiru Jayakody, Kaveesha de Silva, Dinesh Bandara and Madura Madushanka, who have contributed immensely towards their success. Power Tech’ s upset win over John Keells ‘B’ in the semi finals have put them in a good mind set, but MAS Silueta’s formidable winning streak has made them the top runner to win the title.

Sri Lanka Army’s, Thusitha Karunaratne will head the PCT, as the MCA appointed Match Referee cum adjudicator.
