Blackpool hotel brings kudos to Nuwara Eliya

The Blackpool Hotel in Nuwara Eliya won gold, silver and bronze medals at the recent Culinary Art Food Expo organised by the Chef’s Guild of Sri Lanka and held recently at the BMICH Colombo.

The hotel actively participated in eight culinary events and succeeded in winning five awards. The Blackpool Hotel was the only Nuwara Eliya Hotel to win a gold medal.
The culinary team was led by Executive Chef Waruna Tennakoon who has wide international and local experience.

Chathura Vijitha Bandara Ratnayake, deputy leader of culinary team and Pastry Chef won the All Island Gold Medal in the “Dressing of the cake”

competition. He too has wide international experience abroad. Mr. Ratnayake also won a bronze medal for the ‘Petit Four’ competition. Jayakrishnan Murali, from the team, won silver for the best “Sri Lanka meal” while Manusanke Pitiyakumbura won a bronze medal in the ‘cocktail’ competition
