Agreement on Indo-Lanka joint Research in Science & Technology
View(s):Research parties of Sri Lanka, signed an agreement recently to conduct joint Researches with India, under the Programme of Cooperation (PoC) in Science & Technology, signed between the Ministry of Science, Technology & Research of Sri Lanka and the Dept of Science & Technology of India, on Aug.4. 2016, in India.
According to the PoC, proposals were called on Food Technology, Plant based Medicines, Meteorology, Space Research & Applications, Robotics & Automation, Industrial Electronics and other projects with national relevance, to conduct joint Research Projects and Workshops. Following a broad evaluation of more than 100 proposals submitted, 18 joint Research Projects and 2 joint Workshops were selected to be allocated funds, at the first Indo-Lanka Joint Research Symposium held on May 29, this year in Sri Lanka.
The selected proposals were submitted by the Universities of Peradeniya (7), Moratuwa (4), Kelaniya (2), Ruhuna (2), Colombo (1), Jaffna (1), Sri Jayewardenepura (1), Industrial Technology Institute (1) and SAITM (1). A tripartite agreement prior to implementing the Research Projects was also signed between the Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology & Research, Udaya Senevirathne and the Chief Investigator of the Research Project.
