Lyceum International School Nugegoda won the overall championship of the Inter-International Schools Under-15 Cricket Tournament, after beating Stafford International School in the final played at the Panadura Esplanade.

Lyceum Nugegoda met Stafford International School in the final of the Inter-International Under-15 Cricket Tournament, played on September 26. The two schools advanced to the final after competing with 12 other leading International Schools of the country, namely, Asian International School, Gateway College Colombo, Gateway College Kandy, Elizebeth Moir School, British School in Colombo, Royal Institute, Wycherley International School, Leeds International School, OKI International School, Lyceum International School Panadura and Lyceum International School Wattala.

After winning the toss, the lads of Stafford chose to bowl and gave a strong fight. But the Stafford lads couldn’t stop Lyceum Nugegoda from scoring 320 runs, who lost just four wickets on the way. The key performers were Hansaja Bandara, who scored 183 runs and Lashawn de Mel, who made 78 runs.

In the end, Stafford International School were bowled out all out for 144 runs and Lyceum Nugegoda, led by Kaushal Mendis, emerged the overall championship of the tournament with the win by 176 runs in the final. Hansaja Bandara of Lyceum Nugegoda was awarded with three titles — Best Batsman, Man of the Match and Man of the Tournament. The Best Bowler award went to Chathumal de Silva. – Pic courtesy Lyceum
