Hansani and Disanka for Youth Olympics Selection Games in India
View(s):Hansani Piumila of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo and Disanka Tennekoon of Dharmaraja College, Kandy will represent Sri Lanka at the Youth Olympic Selection Games to be held in Uttar Pradesh, India from November 3 to 5. Youth Olympic Games will be held in once in every four years. Piumila qualifies to represent Sri Lanka in the Commonwealth Games to be held in Gold Coast, Australia in 2018 as she occupies the fourth spot in Sri Lanka Women’s rankings and is ranked No. one in the 18 and Under 21 rankings.
Earlier, Hansani Piumila had represented Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Games held in Scotland in 2014 and she had won three Gold Medals at the 12th South Asian Games held in India in 2016. This talented Visakhian paddler won a bronze medal in the Open Women’s event at the 12th South Asian Games held in India in 2016 and won three Gold Medals at the South Asian Junior and Cadet TT Championships in Pakistan in the Under 18 Team, Doubles and Singles events.
At the South Asian Junior Cadet TT Championships (2016) in Sri Lanka Hansani won two Silver and a Bronze medal in the Team, Doubles and Singles events respectively. Hansani has the proud record of representing Sri Lanka at the 5th Asian Schools TT Championships in Singapore (2016), 22nd Asian Junior and Cadet TT Championships in Thailand (2016), LIEBHEER World Table Tennis Championships in Dusseldorf, Germany (2017) and 23rd Asian Junior and Cadet TT Championship in Asan, Korea (2017). She was placed 22nd at the Sea master XXIII ITTF-Asian Table Tennis Championship in China (2017) – Lakshman Ranasinghe
