Flavours of Jaffna at Earl’s Regency
View(s):Earl’s Regency proudly showcasing the ‘Flavours Of Jaffna’, Jaffna Food Festival with traditional music and dancing from November 3rd to 5th for the first time in the modern Kandyan history.
‘It is our pleasure to offer a unique experience of Jaffna food and the cultural aspects to the hill capital. Jaffna cuisine is famous for its unique flavour and taste’ said Upul Gedarakumbura, the General Manager of the property.
The use of specially prepared Jaffna curry powder and ingredients exclusive to the Northern Province enhances the dishes and their standing among other kinds of Sri Lankan cuisine.
‘To enhance this colourful evening we are showcasing some of the unique cultural events originated in Jaffna. Keeju Kudure, Bommalattam, Bharatanatyam will be some of highlighted movements in this extravagant evening’ GM added.
‘And also we are introducing some of the exclusive selections of authentic Jaffna foods specially prepared by ‘Ammes’ from Jaffna and it will be our prime intention to provide an authentic taste of the Jaffna food to Kandy’ affirmed Executive Chef Devinda Basnayaka.
Jaffna handicrafts and the ‘village Kade’ will be set up at the open green outside the Far Pavilion Restaurant to give guests an unique experience of the Jaffna culture.
Highlighted dishes includes JaffanaKool (A soup made out from sea food), Aattu Erachchi (Mutton Paal Porial), Nattu KoliKulambu (Village Chicken Curry), Maattu Erachichi (Beef Curry), Kayaal Meen (Fish), Kanavai (Cuttle Fish) and ever popular Eral (Prawns curry from Jaffna lagoon).
Vegetable Dishes include Murungakkaikulambu (drumstick curry), Thaalicha sothy (Tempered Sothy) and Karunaikilangu Curry (Elephant Yam Curry).
Vallapallam( Verities of Banana) and Mampalam (Verieties of Jaffna Mango) are some of the Jaffna fruits showcasing at the Festival.
Apart from the festival, permanent speciality Indian Restaurant-‘Royal Spice’ is now the key attraction of the hotel’s culinary offer.
‘Royal Spice’ restaurant has already got its Indian speciality chef Balbier Singh and it is the only authentic Indian restaurant in Kandy.
‘Royal Spice Restaurant is the first of its kind in Kandy. There is a huge demand for Indian cuisine in Kandy and especially with the increase of Indian travellers to region’ Chef Basnayaka said.
Regency has four specialised restaurants and bars. Far Pavilion Restaurant is where exquisite culinary creations are lavished on the guests in an intimate setting and gourmet cuisine from around the world is served.
