The award had been presented earlier at a ceremony held at the BMICH, presided over by Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, with Erathne MV upgraded from a 1C school to a 1 AB School. The Ministry of Education (MoE) says the ‘Best Annual Declaration of the Mission & Financial Report’ competition was organised by the AAT Institute, in collaboration with the MoE, with the objectives of maintaining proper Management of Infrastructure, Human Resources and Financial Assessments.
Addressing the gathering at the felicitation ceremony, Erathne MV OBA Vice President Ajith P. Kulasinghe said, “The contribution made by the Principal, towards developing the Education and Resources of this school in the Kuruvita Education Zone (KEZ), in the Ratnapura District, is commendable. It was due to her tireless efforts that this school got the best results at the GCE O/L Exam, among the schools in the KEZ, from 30% to 70%.”
He further said, “It is clear that, with the cooperation the Principal got through her proper handling, our school could achieve all these targets. The OBA and the School Development Society are grateful to the Principal for bringing victory to our school,”
The Principal was taken in a vehicle parade from Kuruvita Town to the school. Along the way, the Principal and students of Sudagala Rahula MV welcomed her and presented her with a gift. Education Director of Pelmadulla Education Zone, Principal of Sudagala MV, Officers of the Kuruvita Police and other distinguished invitees graced the occasion.
