‘Havana’ by Camila Cabello captures UK’s No.1 spot
View(s):Camila Cabello’s ‘Havana’ has captured the UK No: 1 position on the singles chart. After three rather anxious weeks unmoved at the No: 2 spot the ex- Fifth Harmony singer toppled Post Malone’s ‘Rockstar’. Cabello’s hit song feature rapper Young Thug. The hit is Camila’s debut chart topping song in the UK. She quit Fifth Harmony in December 2016. The move was a high risk move, but the Cuban born artist has proved her talent and ability to deliver. Cabello moved with her parents to the US when she was five years old. Her hit song ‘Havana’ is a Latin pop song with a soft samba piano riff interspersed with a horn section which is very infectious.
The 20 year old co –wrote the song with Brittany Hazzard, Ali Tamposi, Brian Lee, Andrew Watt, Pharrell Williams, Jeffrey Lamar Williams, Adam Feeney and Louis Bell. The song is produced by Frank Dukes. ‘Havana’ first debuted on the UK chart 13 weeks ago at No: 53 and then faltered to drop to 57, before the song began to ascend the chart. It had a nervous three week stay at No: 2. ‘Havana’ is taken from Camila Cabello’s album ‘The Hurting, The Healing, The Loving’.
Charlie Puth has scored a new UK top 10 hit with ‘How Long’. The pop funk track took an eight notch climb from 17 to No: 9 earlier. This is the fourth week for the song on the chart since it debuted at No: 40. The song is the follow up to his previous top 10 hit ‘Attention’ which peaked at No: 9. ‘How Long’ is taken from Puth’s album ‘Voicenotes’.
The rock band U2 have taken a bold decision to give their real fans the opportunity to buy concert tickets bypassing touts. As the Irish band plans for their Experience + Innocence tour which commences in May 2018, they will be using a wetting mechanism in order that real fans get the tickets. Ticketmaster has installed a Verified Fan platform for online sales. The move by U2 is an historic first by a group or artist. Fans around the world had been paying exorbitant ticket prices in recent years through touts who swallow tickets when they first appear online. U2 fans are given time till 18th November to register for the verification process. U2 will start their tour on 18th May 2018 in Tusla, Oklahoma in the US. Meanwhile U2 will receive the Global Icon Award at the Europe Music Awards for MTV tonight in London.
Grammy award winning rap star Diddy has changed his name again. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs made the announcement on November 4, his 48th birthday on social media.
He will now be known as Love or Brother Love. He found fame as Puff Daddy in 1997. He changed to P.Diddy in 2001 and in 2005 became Diddy.
Mariah Carey and her manager Stella Bulochnika of three years have parted ways. The two issued a joint statement on 4th November.
