Katy Perry barred from entering China
View(s):Pop singer Katy Perry has been reportedly barred from entering China. Reports say the 33 year old ‘I Kissed A Girl’ hitmaker was due to perform at the Victoria’s Secrets Fashion show in Shanghai on 20th November but it did not happen as her visa was turned down. China is apparently upset with Perry for waving the Taiwan flag during a show in Taipei in 2015 and also wearing a dress at the concert with a sunflowers which is said to be considered an anti- China symbol.

Meanwhile there was better news for the singer on November 17 when a judge ordered that she receive $1.6 million in legal fees over a battle to buy a former convent in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. Perry has made $14.5 million bid for the site which she wants to convert into a home for herself and her mother. Two nuns supported by a businesswoman tried to block Perry from gaining ownership of the former convent with their bid ending in courts. The final approval for the sale will be made by the Vatican.
Mariah Carey has been forced to cancel the first part of her Christmas tour due a respiratory infection. The show which was to start on 15th November in Ontario, Canada will instead begin tomorrow 27th November in New York City.
Camila Cabello is holding out for a third straight week at the top of the UK singles chart ‘Havana’ featuring Young Thug. The song is the only release so far from the Cuban/ American artist’s debut album ‘The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving’. Cabello’s hit song has withstood a strong challenge from Rita Ora’s song ‘Anywhere’. At the countdown ‘Havana’ was ahead by 8000 in combined sales. Rita Ora’s hit ‘Anywhere’ climbed from 5 to the No: spot. Ora’s dancepop/ electropop track got a boost after her performance at the MTV- Europe Music Awards in London on 12th November.
Eminem entered the UK singles chart inside the top 10 as his newest single ‘Walk On Water’ debuted on the chart at No: 7. The track features the smooth vocals of Beyonce. But it is Skylar Grey who has actually helped get the song to where it is today. She played piano and sang the chorus to the song when Eminem performed it at the MTV – Europe Music Awards in London on 12th November. Eminem’s rap for the song was developed after he was convinced with the hook for ‘Walk On Water’ by Skylar Grey. The song is co-produced by Rick Rubin. The song is taken from Eminem’s next album ‘Revival’. ‘Walk On Water’ is the 23rd top 10 hit for Eminem in the UK.
Big Shaq brought in a little bit of humour to the UK top 10 singles chart with his debut entry ‘Man’s Not Hot’. The song crossed over to No: 8 from 11 after a tedious journey that began at 30. ‘Man’s Not Hot’ is a comedy/ hip hop and grime track. Big Shag is a 26 year old multitalented individual who dabbles in acting, comedy and rap. His works under his own name Michael Dapaah as well as Roadman Shaq, MC Quakez and Big Shaq.
