Needlework creations for the season
Ramani Liyanage and Shamini Rockwood are the skilful duo behind the “Needle Creations” studio and academy. Having undergone professional needlecraft training in UK and New Zealand, they train students in the art at their academy.
They will hold their annual Christmas exhibition and sale for the third consecutive year on December 2 and 3 from 10 a.m to 6.30.p.m. at No. 983/D, Lake Drive, Pannipitiya Road, Pelawatte, Battaramulla. The exhibition will feature hand embroidered bed linen, table linen, hand towels, quilts, runners, serviettes,cushion covers including shadow work, cross stitch and crochet creations from Rs.300 upwards.
“In our academy, we offer courses including creative needlework by hand, cross stitch, shadow work, patch-work quilting, embroidery and many more. We have about 15-20 students and for some we give lessons free of charge,” says Shamini.
“Both our families had a background of sewing,” Ramani says. “Our long lasting friendship and love for sewing inspired this exhibition.”
