BILLS NOT PAID
View(s):A certain sport that is very popular in the country had difficulties in paying the bills to a popular sports ground that is being continuously used. Ultimately it was paid and the amount did not amount to much. It is now speculated that the amount paid was just enough to pay the bill for floodlights that month.
DISCOURAGING SPORTS?
A group of motorcycle riders had approached the office of the Head of Sports stating that they needed money to buy air-tickets to take part in a tournament overseas. An official of the office had beleaguered the group stating that there are far more sports which the body can sponsor other than motorsports. Is this encouraging sport?
NO COACH AS YET
Nearly two weeks have passed since the meeting to apply for a National coach for a leading women’s sport. The reason being, that the head of the sport is out of the country and cannot be questioned. Could it be that she has left the country to avoid any unanswered questions? It is speculated that a Sri Lankan working abroad has been ear-marked for the job.
CERTIFICATE LOST
A cycling coach is in a quandary as the certificate he received at a meet in Korea is missing. Korean officials say that the certificate was sent under registered cover from Korea. It is suspected that a certain official has hidden the document for fear that this coach maybe appointed as the coach for a impending foreign assignment.
AKIN TO MUGABE
Talk is rife about the elections of the country’s key sports body as it is said that the top man wants to remain and he is being compared to Robert Mugabe who did not want to resign, but did so after several years. The saying is that this individual wants to remain at this post come what may, so that he can enjoy the benefits of this body to the hilt without hindrance.
