It was a show with a cause – the Sunera Foundation and so it was not altogether a surprise to see some well-known personalities, graceful dancer Thaji from the Chitrasena Vajira Dance Foundation, artist Anoma Wijewardene, writer Ashok Ferrey to name a few on the ramp along with the models at the Colours of the Silk Road show at the Colombo Hilton on Monday evening. The show looked to highlight the beauty of the ancient weaves and jewellery crafted by the Nomadic tribes who travelled the ancient Silk Route and these were showcased by picks from saree boutique Rithihi – sarees, stoles, kurtis in jewel-bright colours complemented with bold Kadambari Jewellery.
The show was sponsored by the Hilton Colombo with Salon Kess, Event Productions, Bates Strategic Alliance and print media sponsors, the Daily Mirror Life, the Sunday Times, Daily FT, Life Online and Hi Magazine.
