Oxford to sponsor Hameed Al-Husseinie President’s Cup Football Tournament

The Oxford Group has come aboard as the main sponsor of the President’s Cup 2018, an Inter-School Football tournament organised by the Group of 80’s of Hameed Al-Husseinie College. The 11th edition of the Inter-Schools Invitation Football Tournament will be held at the Colombo Racecourse ground in Colombo, with dates yet to be confirmed by the organisers.
The annual Inter-Schools Invitation Football Tournament has been organised by the Group of 80’s since 2008 and 20 leading football playing schools fiercely participate every year vying for the main title. The hosts, Hameed Al-Husseinie College are the current title holders of the President’s Cup.
Oxford Group is one of the major importers and distributors of leather products in Sri Lanka. The official launch and the event of handing over of the sponsorship was held at the recently concluded Hameedians Fellowship Dinner organised by the Old Boys’ Association last Saturday at Hotel Galadari, in Colombo.
Speaking after exchanging the sponsorship deal at the occasion, the Chairman of Oxford Group, Imthiyas Farook stated that it is important to bring up sportsmanship among young children during their school days. He also emphasised that good leadership and execution skills can be developed through a team sport such as football, in which they learn that correct execution brings ultimate results.
The Tournament Organising Committee said that the final match will be played under flood lights and more than 5000 spectators are expected to witness the final battle for the President’s Cup champion title.
